### Syllabus

Math 252A is the honors section of second semester calculus. The material is standard for a second semester calculus course, and largely the same as in Math 242: transcendental and trigonometric functions, including exponentials and logarithms; techniques of integration; numerical sequences and series, and power series; elementary differential equations and polar coordinates. This means that we will be covering Chapters 7 to 9, and parts of Chapters 16, 17 and 10 of the textbook (in that order).

Two things distinguish Math 252A from Math 242. First, the treatment in Math 252A will be on a more theoretical level than in Math 242, with less emphasis on calculation. Second, in Math 252A we will cover polar coordinates at the end of the semester; for students taking Math 242 this material is covered at the start of Math 243.

### Homework

You should try to do all the assigned problems. You must turn in problems marked in yellow. These are due in lecture on the first Monday after they are assigned. Yuliia will grade the problems and will return them to you in recitation on Wednesday, two days later. Late homework will not be accepted unless arranged in advance with Yuliia.

For example, homework assigned during the week MWF, 1/22, 1/24, 1/26 is due in lecture on Monday 1/29; it will be graded and returned to you in recitation on Wednesday 2/2. The Monday holidays, MLK Day and Presidents' Day, are an exception.
