Academic Expectations

The prerequisite for this course is a grade of "C" or better in either Math 242 or Math 252A, or consent. Students should review the Statement of Academic Expectations. All academic work should be done with the high levels of honesty, integrity and excellence that this University demands.

Readings

We will cover topics from chapters 11, 12, and 13 of the text book. The topics include Vectors and the Geometry of Space, Polar Coordinates, Vector-valued Functions and Motion in Space, and Multi-variable Differential Calculus.

Attendance and Grading

Regular attendance to class lectures is required. The grade will be determined by two in-class exams, a cumulative final exam, and homework. Homework assignments and due dates will be posted on the MATH 243 Homework page. Homework assignments must be legible, and you are required to use proper grammatical English and follow the guidelines for clear and concise writing. The exams and homework will be weighted as follows:

Homework 20% Grade computed from the weekly assignments
Exam 1 20% Thursday, October 4
Exam 2 20% Thursday, November 15
Final 40% Thursday, December 13, 9:45 AM to 11:45 AM in Bilger 335.

You must bring your UH student ID to every test. If Keller Hall is closed for any reason, we will meet by the steps of Hamilton Library. Only documented valid health related excuses will be accepted for missing an exam.
