Fall 2022:
Math 100, Survey of Mathematics.

Topics include unit analysis and problem solving; percentages as fraction, to represent change and for comparison; putting numbers in perspective and scientific notation; exponential growth and decay; linear and exponential modeling. There is a strong emphasis on real world applications with a focus on the following themes: Kaho`olawe, microbiomes, climate change and disease modeling.

No textbook is required for the course. However if you would like a reference, you can use:

Bennett, Briggs, Using and Understanding Mathematics. A quantitative reasoning approach, 7th edition, Pearson (mostly chapters 3, 4, 8 and 9).
