Every spring, the math department celebrates the end of the semester by honoring a number of faculty and PhD Students. This year Erik Guentner was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award, and the department said “thank you” to George Wilkens in advance of his upcoming retirement. The department also honored: Rufus Willett, who is completing his term as chair of the dpeartment; Asaf Hadari, completing his term as graduate chair of the department; Yash Lodha and Farzana Nasrin who are leaving the department; and Sue Hasegawa who retired earlier in the year, but returned for a brief visit!

Finally, the department celebrated two PhD students– for their outstanding teaching records: Shubham Joshi and Ikenna Nometa.
